Body Building at Central Farmers Garage turns a bare Isuzu chassis into a finished bus, truck or specialised unit built for Kenyan road conditions. We have been an appointed dealer for Isuzu East Africa since 1982 and we fabricate every body in our own workshops. The chassis, the body and the aftersales support all come from one supplier, so there is no gap in responsibility when something needs attention.
What Our Body Building Service Covers
Every CFG Label body is designed for strength and flexibility, the two qualities that decide whether a unit survives a decade on murram and unsealed roads or starts cracking in its second year. We build to order against your route profile, payload and operating budget.
Buses and Coaches
School buses, staff transport, tour coaches and PSV units from 25 to 67 seats. Seating layout, luggage capacity, window configuration and livery are specified before fabrication begins. Body building for passenger units includes full compliance with PSV fittings, emergency exits and speed governor mounting.
Trucks and Cargo Bodies
Dropside bodies, high sided cargo bodies, curtain siders, tippers, water bowsers and fuel tankers. Floor decking, subframe mounting and load distribution are matched to the chassis rating so payload is never achieved at the cost of frame life.
Specialised Units
Ambulances, mobile clinics, refrigerated bodies, security vehicles and custom field units for NGOs and county governments. These projects take longer because interior fit out and equipment mounting are drawn up with the client before any steel is cut.
Why Body Building on an Isuzu Chassis
An aftermarket body fitted by a third party can void parts of your chassis warranty and often mounts to points the manufacturer never intended to carry load. Our fabrication follows Isuzu body mounting specifications, which keeps the chassis warranty intact and keeps the finished unit within its designed axle loading.
It also shortens the process. A vehicle bought through our sales and service network goes straight from delivery into the body shop without a second transport leg or a second set of inspections.
Standards and Compliance
Every unit we release is built to meet NTSA inspection requirements and the relevant Kenya Bureau of Standards specifications for the body type. We hand over the documentation you need for registration and first inspection rather than leaving you to chase it.
| Body type | Common chassis | Indicative lead time |
|---|---|---|
| School or staff bus | NQR, FRR | 6 to 9 weeks |
| Dropside or cargo body | NPR, NQR | 3 to 5 weeks |
| Tipper | FVZ, FVM | 5 to 7 weeks |
| Water bowser or tanker | FRR, FVZ | 6 to 8 weeks |
| Ambulance or mobile clinic | NPR, NQR | 8 to 12 weeks |
Branches and Capacity
Body building is handled across our Nairobi, Kitale, Lodwar and Bungoma branches. Each site is a 3S operation covering sales, service and spares, so a unit we build can be serviced at the same workshop for its whole working life. Fleet operators running mixed routes across the North Rift and Western region usually base the build at whichever branch sits closest to their depot.
Start Your Body Building Project
Send us the chassis model, the intended use and your target delivery date and we will come back with a specification and a quotation. If you are still choosing a chassis, our team will advise on the right rating before you commit, and our finance calculator will show what the combined chassis and body cost looks like monthly.
